Saving money is always a wonderful thing but it’s especially nice when you can save on something that you were already going to buy. This season I am jam packed with money saving tips for you and This is one that I absolutely love! Why? Because Thanksgiving is right around the corner and who couldn’t use a free turkey?
Did you even know that there are grocery stores that will give you a free turkey and others that offer huge discounts on turkeys and hams? If you didn’t that’s ok! For the longest time I didn’t know about this. It’s ok because you found this post and I am Here to help. Here is what you will need to do before you go get your turkey this year.
Plan your shopping accordingly
First start by shopping your local grocery store adds or their websites. In order to get a free turkey you first have to know which stores are even offering it or which have the best deals.
The second thing you will want to do is to plan out your next month’s meals and make a shopping list of the other items you will need. It toilet paper, dish soap, laundry soap. The extras. You don’t want to go to the store without a list. Most stores that offer this amazing deal will probably have some rules to get your free turkey. Such as get a free 10-20 pound turkey when you spend $100 or more. If you are shopping intentionally (meaning buying what you will buy anyways) you will avoid buying things that you don’t need or won’t use.
Know your stores rules
As I mentioned most stores will have rules to their free turkey. Does the $100 spent include the price of the turkey or not? Does it include things like toilet paper and shampoo or not. Knowing these things before hand can save you a lot of time and heart ache in the end. If the add does not clearly state the rules, don’t be afraid to call that store and ask.
I think this one is pretty simple. You have to go get your free turkey!
Don’t be afraid to take advantage of a store that is offering a free turkey with the purchase of a ham. This could be a better deal for you. You can freeze the ham and guess what! You have your main dish for Christmas done! So find what works best for you and your family.
Now what if you are sitting there saying, “well I don’t need a free turkey because I’m not hosting Thanksgiving this year”? Let me ask you this. Will you spend $100 or more in your groceries for this next month? Then WHY NOT get a turkey for free? It freezes and keeps nicely for months (actually we just made our from last year This last month and it was still good) or cook it now and slice it up, shred it, or grind it and freeze it that way. Save it in freezer safe bags that are portioned out and you can pull some out throughout the year for sandwiches, Turkey and noodles or make turkey pot pie or anything turkey.
Just remember the three important key steps
1.Plan your shopping accordingly
2. Know your stores rules
3. Get shopping
Well friends I hope this helps you save a little bit more money this holiday season and gives you one more thing to be thankful for. I wish you and your families the best wishes this Thanksgiving!
Until next time,
